Hike for Life & My most sincere apologies

Hike for Life & My most sincere apologies

My Apologies I want to offer my most sincere apologies for not keeping this updated.  My 2017 was one of those years everything gets put on hold, because life throws everything at you all at once. My 2018 started out the same way, but I kept my head down and pulled through the other end still intact. I didn’t keep the site updated because I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep it running. Now that I am, I can…

Wow what a Month! Heart Transplant Needs Your Help!

Wow what a Month! Heart Transplant Needs Your Help!

Wow, what a month this last January has been! Everything grounded to a halt, my rehab and all my prep work for my hike. All because I came in contact with someone who was sick for a minute or two. I started to feel better and I was suddenly with one of the worst pains an individual can have. A kidney stone! I’m happy to say that I am feeling human again and pain free! There is still more good news…

Getting On With It.

Getting On With It.

I am finally getting over this  cold that has had me down for the last few weeks! I was admitted into the hospital with severe abdominal pains, which turned out to be a really large kidney stone.  Today, I return to get the stone removed, the doctor will either use a laser to disintegrate the stone. Otherwise, a ultrasonic blast will be used to breakup the stone. This weekend was hard in one of the other groups that I belong…

My Hike For Life! Be A Donor!

My Hike For Life! Be A Donor!

My journey began the night they told me they found a suitable heart and I was going to live.  I awoke afterward and thanked GOD, smiled at my wife ad said a prayer for the person who’s heart was now beating in my chest. My mind was spinning with new vigor and thinking of what was next.  I wanted my wife to retire so we pack up the camper and travel this great country. She’s not old enough so…

Miserable!

Miserable!

It’s been a miserable two weeks of being sick. The doctor is changing the antibiotics and hoping that will do  it. I hope so! I tried busting out the dumb bells here at home, but all that did was make me cough more.

90 Challenge

90 Challenge

The time is growing short and April 12th will be here in no time. My new knees are coming along nicely.  I have been told that is is OK to start adding some weighted exercises to my exercise program.  So today, I start my 90 challenge.  I will be at Cardinal in Algonquin every day for the next 90 days barring any conflicts with my annual medical testing.  I hope regain the muscle mass that I lost .

98 Days and Counting

98 Days and Counting

I realized this morning that there are only 98 days before I leave for Springer Mtn.,GA again. I’m feeling nervous and excited at the same time. I fear my message is not getting out there, or people are not taking me seriously.  Right now over 200,00 individuals are  on waiting list all over this country and they need our help. 52% of our American adult population are NOT Organ & Tissue donors, with that in mind, there are approximately 159 million…

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I spent New Year’s Eve with my daughter and her family. I counted my blessing as I watched the six if them play in the pool at the hotel.  Three years ago I was hoping to see my next day, but I was blessed with the Gift of Life and got my new heart. I can’t thank God, my Donor and the family of my Donor enough.   My quest to hike the 2,190 miles of the Appalachian Trail and…
