A Good Feeling!

A Good Feeling!

It’s a good feeling! My rehab workouts are getting longer and tougher.  I’m seeing results in the leg muscles. My hamstrings and quads are starting to rebuild muscle mass that I haven’t seen since before my transplant surgery.  My therapist says he has not doubt that I’ll be ready for my April 14 th AT start. I still need your help in spreading to word of my mission to register 2,190 new Organ & tissue donors thru the link on…

My Christmas Prayer

My Christmas Prayer

Three years ago I was lying in my bed in the CICU waiting for what God had planned for me and accepting my fate, whatever it was going to be and this has become my tradition when I wake on Christmas morning. I say a prayer thanking God, my Donor and their family. I ask that he send his angels to over those who still wait for the gift they need and end with a very humble Amen. Especially this…

Moving Ahead!

Moving Ahead!

The Holidays are upon us and We will be running back and forth. I had appointments everyday the week before last week. The orthopedist said six more weeks of rehab and figures I will be ready to be hiking by early February.  We started with more strength training this last week. Friday I had rehab in the morning and when my wife came home we drove to Wisconsin for Christmas with my family.  Saturday morning turned right back around and…

What’s going on?

What’s going on?

What’s going on? I’ve been going to rehab 3 times a week and making progress with the knees, but I think there is a distance to go yet. Not ready to hop on the trail yet. I’ve join the local Cardinal Fitness club so I can do cardio and work on the upper body. I forgot to mention that I was asked a while back to come and speak to a group tonight. It was just before the election and…

It’s official!

It’s official!

It’s official, I’ve taken the next step in my planned recovery. I joined my local fitness club and will be putting 3 days a week there beside the 3 days a week I spend at rehab working on the knees and legs. I decided to join the gym because when I am at home I have too many distractions and don’t get a good workout in.  Keep up on my progress on my AT-Tinman FaceBook page.

Moving in the right direction.

Moving in the right direction.

Well it’s been about a month that I have been going to Athletico for the rehab on mt knees. Mike there has been doing a great job.  The last week or so my knees are progressing well enough so, we are adding more strength training.  I still needed to join a club because Athletico can’t allow me to do any upper body stuff, due to insurance restrictions.  Overall, I am doing a lot better than even I expected.  I still have…

My Blessings!

My Blessings!

It was a relatively slow last week, beside my pt for the knees. They are letting me know that winter is here to stay. I am for the most part a traditional guy and this is the time of year I show my age. Thanksgiving and Christmas are around the bend and the new year quickly to follow. I count my blessings, my wife, kids, and all the grandkids, my Mom who is still with us, brothers, sister and all…

Time is flying!

Time is flying!

Boy time is flying by. I can’t believe that next week is Thanksgiving already.  We’ve added more exercises to the rehab routine to stretch and strengthen the knees. However the left knee is fighting back and is being difficult.  I hate taking the pain pills, but I don’t have much choice.  I am being told my progress is remarkable, but i’m not seeing it that way. Guess I don’t have the patience.  I want it to be over with so…

Time To Plan!

Time To Plan!

Tomorrow I see the Orthopedic Surgeon and I am hoping he clears me for outpatient rehab therapy! I suddenly realized that it is November 2nd! Boy, the time is flying by! Even though it is not a certain, I need to start the planning if I am going to make it to the AT next April. Mind you that is NOT a given at this point. So that said, I am putting out the call to my followers and their…
